The children of the Himalayas are born into and raised in incredibly harsh conditions—conditions that demand the early development of physical and mental strength, endurance, and resilience. I find myself being especially fascinated by the Women of the Himalayas. Probably it is because as a women myself, I am aware of the challenges that come with our monthly cycles and how these impact our daily life. But despite these challenges, Himalayan Women execute physically demanding tasks in colorful dresses, making it look so easy and graceful! They cut wood, climb trees, and carry heavy bundles of hay and dried leaves across steep, rocky terrain—often in nothing more than worn-out plastic sandals. They spend hours in the fields cutting weeds, cultivating vegetables in their gardens, and tending to livestock. They raise children, prepare warm, fresh meals, and keep the home running. This little photo series is dedicated to them—their incredible physical and mental strength, their endurance, and their unshakable persistence.
